For overnight stays before or after work that are deemed necessary by the supervisor, a daily allowance will be provided in addition to lodging expenses for the day of travel.
However, in the case of an overnight stay for personal reasons, the employee is responsible for his/her own accommodation expenses and is not entitled to a daily allowance for the day of travel.The amount of the daily allowance varies depending on the itinerary and distance, so please refer to the “Handling Rules for Outings and Business Trips in Japan” for details.
